The Speed River Track and Field Club is thrilled to announce the addition of three new coaches to our Junior Speed/Power group Rachelle Campbell, Derek Haley and Chuck Canfield. Recently after serving the club for 7 years long time junior sprints coach Maureen Hay stepped down to focus on other projects. "We are extremely grateful for everything Maureen has done for our junior group, she and (Assistant Coach) Tara MacDonald have been huge influences on our club and the development of young athletes within our program" commented Club Manager Chris Moulton. Taking over for Hay will be Campbell, Haley and Canfield. Campbell joins the club after a decorated career as an athlete that saw her represent Canada at the Olympic Games, she is a member of the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame. Campbell is an educator by trade, is one of the lead directors of the University of Guelph Child Care & Learning Centre. Both Haley and Canfield are former varsity track and field athletes at the University of Windsor. Haley was a long and triple jumper and is currently a professor at the University of Guelph Population Medicine department. Canfield works for Oracle and is one of the fastest sprint hurdlers in Canadian University history. "A great deal of credit goes to our Speed/Power Lead Jason Kerr for pulling together such a great staff, we are beyond thrilled to add three great individuals to continue the great program that Maureen, Tara and proceeding them Max Paquette have built" added Moulton. The Junior Speed/Power group will resume practices on Monday September 21st at 5 pm at Alumni Stadium. New members are welcome and should contact Chris Moulton at email@example.com.
